Aloha to Ka'ena Point - Makua Section

On Sunday, I posted my family's hike to Ka'ena Point from the North Shore at this link.  The Cub Scouts visited the top of Ka'ena Point at this link.  My travel club has ventured as far as the paved road on the Wai'anae Coast at this link.   I share the my family's hike from last year when we ventured past the paved road to soak up the gorgeous views.

The North Shore hiking trail is open for four wheel trucks - the Wai'anae Coast is not.   It is a popular hike for Scouts, tourists, and fishermen who seek the ultimate catch!

The trail becomes muddy after a rainstorm.

The trail offers prime viewing of migrating whales
in the winter months.

One of several sea arches along the trail.

Ka'ena Point is considered sacred to the Native Hawaiians.  I am thankful for the opportunity to share the serenity.   Do have a favorite place to retreat?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs will win a book choice from my convention stash.  This giveaway is open to all readers.  Comments are open through Saturday, February 25, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, February 26.

Mahalo,

  4. My favorite place to retreat is either the beach/bay to look out at the water, or the bathtub to be in the water with a good book to read.

  5. Beautiful! I retreat to the bathroom of all places. It has always been a place where I could be private, read and have plenty of light!

  6. Love those pictures. I retreat to my bedroom for some peace and quiet. I finally have it comfortable with a chair, plush carpets and a window air conditioner for the summer. 2 of my book cases are also in there so I can reach my books easily. lol

  9. Always love the pics. Being able to spy a whale would be wonderful. I have a covered back porch with a swing and a hillside and small woods behind my house which is wonderful on nice days.

  12. I don't have a special place to retreat. Even if I did I could not find the time to go! LOL! I would love to go up in the mountains here on a warm day and like to sit in the back of the truck and just close my eyes for a bit.
