Aloha to the Windward Coast of Oahu

Continuing our tour of Oahu's windward coast ....

Mokoliʻi is an iconic symbol of Oahu's coast.
It is nicknamed Chinaman's Hat.

Ivy hangs on to the table as the wind blows!

Driving north along the windward coast,
we find S. Tanaka's Antiques and Bottles!

It is full of collectibles and oddities ...

... local and worldwide!

Endless summer -
the North Shore's mantra!

Do you have a favorite picnic spot or antique store?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.  This giveaway is open to all readers.  Comments are open through Saturday, May 12, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, May 13.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

Ivy asks, "What's next?"
I respond, "The Birthing Stones!"

  1. We spent four years living on Kaneohe MCAS (from 1984 - 1988) and loved it. I don't think I could pick a favorite place, though my kids certainly liked Kailua beach!

  2. My favorite picnic spot is at the bay here in San Diego. As long as it isn't way too windy!

  3. We have lots of nice parks where we can picnic. Some of them are near lakes and when the kids were young we used to visit them often. Recently we have gone to our a local park where there is an amphitheater. It's so nice to picnic and to listen to the music on a Sunday evening.

  4. Favorite is on the lake but when my kids were young (64-70) we would go to park next to Zoo (no long have zoo). The favorite time was Easter when we would have Easter Egg hunts. The park is also gone now to apts and businesses.

  5. One of my favourite antique hoppings is near Stratford, Ontario
(where Justin Bieber is from) is a little hamlet called Shakespeare and they have the most quaintest antique shops and this where I enjoy going on a Sunday. It is a homely little town.

  11. We have one large park with tons of picnic areas so you can choose different spots and then a smaller one close by. Although now that the kids are grown, it's been a while since I've visited them.

  12. My favorite picnic spot is at the local park called Lorenzi park. They have a large pond and in the middle of the pond is a large island with ducks, geese and other birds who if they see you throwing food into the water, will swim over to you so you can feed them.

  13. Areas around here are a little too dangerous for picnic's ,even the most secure spots can be too dangerous but yes there is a favourite spot that we use to go to it has a lake and the most gorgeous ducks and swans and beautiful trees for shade.

    Thanks for the giveaway Kim

  14. The one place we tend to picnic occasionally is at the Hollywood Bowl but the bees can be a terrible problem so we often end up in the car...which negates the whole concept of picnicking!
