Aloha to military sites around Oahu

My mother has been our guest for almost three weeks.  We've tried to pack in as much sightseeing as possible!   Here are some photos from military sites.  Above is the USS Missouri - she is moored in Pearl Harbor, overlooking the USS Arizona Memorial.  They represent the beginning and ending of WWII.

Pearl Harbor is the No. 1 tourist attraction on Oahu.

The pier overlooks the USS Arizona Memorial.

The USS Arizona Memorial always catches my breath.

We drove over to the historical housing area that
overlooks the USS Arizona Memorial.

Nearby is the "John Wayne" house.  He lived in
this house when as he filmed IN HARM'S WAY.
Some scenes were even filmed in the house!

At the mouth of the Pearl Harbor Channel is the
Hickam "Missing Man" formation.

Missing Man at Dusk.

The channel gives way to sand bars where
military personnel play with their dogs.

We joined the dog lovers for the sunset.

The sunset brings peace.

We ventured down to the Hale Koa -
House of the Warrior.  It is an Armed Forces
Recreation Center on Waikiki Beach.

Barbara enjoys a cocktail on the beach!
