Aloha to Kailua Beach (part 1)

For Valentine's Day, I treated myself to a walk on a beach ... so I ventured over to Kailua Beach!

The wide open beach gives way to bodysurfing waves.

Kailua offers views of Mokapu, home of Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

The trade winds make Kailua Beach a perfect place for wind surfing.

The Ko'olau Range peaks over Kailua Beach.

Mulimillion dollar homes enjoy ocean views ... but all beaches in Hawaii are open to the public.

Kailua Beach is also open to dogs!

Today's comments are open forum.  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.   Comments are open through Saturday, February 23, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, February 24 at SOS Aloha.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

  7. Makes me happy when beaches include our canine friends. What a gorgeous beach. The water looks so perfect. A Valentine's Day walk on the beach sounds great!

  9. Hi Kim!

I'm sitting in my kitchen while I type this gazing out the window watching the snow falling thinking of you walking down a sandy beach with the warm winds blowing your hair and your boys playing in the water.

Okay, I'm totally jealous because it's almost time to fill up the wood stove again which means I have to go outside and get more wood.

Could you remind me one more time why I'm living in New England?

Kailua Beach is beautiful and I can't wait for summertime and being able to walk along the beaches just 3 miles away but until then I'll be cuddling up inside staying warm and reading a good book!

  10. Kim, I may not comment each day but I do follow and armchair travel with each post and I want to let you know how much I appreciate you sharing all these beautiful places with us. There have been days that I have come home from work feeling awful because a customer had gotten rude but once I open the emails and gaze at all the places you take me, those bad moods disappear and I close the emails with a smile on my face. Thank you for that!
