Aloha to Maui - Dusk turning to sunset

At dusk, I walked along the beach and found a few of nature's treasures.

Someone else laid out these coral pieces atop the volcanic rock.

I played around with the shadows ...

... the same rocks from different angles.

A fallen tree that will find new life on the beach.

The sun sets between Lana'i (left) and Moloka'i (right.)   What's your level of photography - click and hope for the best?  Or do you know how to use a lens?    One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.  This giveaway is open to all readers.  Comments are open through Saturday, October 20, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winners on Sunday, October 21.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

The green flash is about to appear ...

  1. I am a click and hope for the best type of person. I may get better with time and practice. Th beach holds many treasures if you just look.

  2. I am a point and shoot type of person. My digi cam is auto focus so I can just keep taking the picture until it looks the way I want and delete the rest. lol If I had the money for an expensive camera with an adjustable lens, I would learn how to use it though.

  3. I use the different modes on my camera depending on what I'm taking a photograph of. The camera makes it easy though, so it's pretty much point and shoot.

  4. Click and hope for the best lol. At least with today's camera's it's a lot easier than it use to be. My husband bought one of those fancy cameras 40 years ago but it was just too heavy for me to handle.

  5. Click and hope for the best! :) It just seem so complicated to use a SLR.

  6. I'm a point and click - very simple camera that I have right now, with auto focus, etc.

  7. I really only have a digital point and shoot type of camera as ones with interchangeable lenses and what not are rather expensive.

  9. I'm not a very adept with camera's and it's uses, but I try to capture the best angle when taking a picture by positioning right. It's the least I can do. ;p

  10. Your pictures are always amazing. I'm not professional at all when it comes to taking pictures. Every once in awhile a picture comes out looking amazing. It's always by chance though. :)
