Aloha to Kauai - Po'ipu Beach, Waimea Canyon, and Kalalau Lookout

My camera's chip fizzed out ... but I rescued a few pictures from our last day in Kauai.  Above is Po'ipu Beach.

We drove to the west end of the Garden Isle to the Waimea Canyon!

From Go Hawaii (at this link),

Stretching 14 miles long, one mile wide and more than 3,600 feet deep, the Waimea Canyon Lookout provides panoramic views of crested buttes, rugged crags and deep valley gorges. The grand inland vistas go on for miles.

We found an entrepreneur catering to the tourists ... his cold, sliced pineapple is delicious!

We continued along the winding road to the Kokee State Park (at this link),

Both the Kalalau Lookout (below) and the Puu O Kila Lookout offer commanding views of the Kalalau Valley stretching out to the sea. This view offers a glimpse at the towering cliffs of the Napali coast.

What would you buy from the entrepreneur - pineapple? mango? papaya? coconut? One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash. This giveaway is open to all readers. Comments are open through Saturday, September 15. 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, September 16.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

The clouds rolled over the Kalalau Lookout.

  9. Love the pictures, wow just beautiful.
On our travels to visit family when I was a kid we would stop at these road side stands and get beef jerky quite often. The whole family loves that stuff. That and nuts. There would be pistachio shells all over the back of the car. lol
