Aloha to the Dole Plantation

Oahu's central plain offers a hidden gem - the Dole Plantation.

Above is the Pineapple Express.

Here's my mother, dancing the hula ...

... as I play the ukulele!

I love the colors of the Mindanao Gum (Philippine Eucalyptus)!

The signpost reminds me of M*A*S*H*!

Of course we spotted pineapples ...

... even in pink!

The yellow hibiscus is the state flower.

The hibiscus comes in all colors, including hot pink!

The Hawaiian Red Ginger adds dimension to the gardens.

The fox tail palm tree caught my eye ... and camera!

Monet, anyone?  What is your favorite flower?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.  This giveaway is open to all readers.  Comments are open through Saturday, September 22, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, September 23.

Kim in Hawaii

We enjoyed a bowl of pineapple ice cream
atop a bed of fresh cut pineapple!

  1. I need to try the pineapple ice cream. I love tulips.

  2. I am not fond of pineapple but I do like flowers. I like the bleeding heart.

  3. Kim love the picture of you in the pineapple!

My favorite flower --- lilacs...and I love pineapple!

  4. I now have a craving for pineapple. I love the hot pink flowers here but at home I like peach roses and sunflowers.

  5. Great pictures as always Kim. That pineapple and ice cream look delicious. My favorite flowers are Carnations and Roses.

  6. Love the pictures. Wish I had some fresh pineapple right now lol. I am going to say pansy's - it's the perfect time of year for them and I love their little faces :)

  7. Love the pictures. I'd have to say that the Iris is my favorite. And, boy, does that ice cream look good!!

  8. Gardenias are great

  9. Dole the only pineapple I will eat. Love it.
    Great pics.
The flower I like is lavender and it is because of the fragrant.

  10. The pineapple ice cream with fresh pineapple sounds wonderful!!

I like lilies. There are a lot of different kinds and they are all beautiful!
