Aloha to RimPac Guests - Russian Sailors!

We were thrilled to visit the Russian Ship ADMIRAL PANTELEEV, a large antisubmarine ship.

We had to wait a few minutes on the Pier for the ship to open.

The sailors prepare for the American public!

The Russians brought their own guards.

Once onboard, we could take endless pictures!

Translation, anyone?

I don't read the Cyrillic characters!

Ah, a translation!

The sailors didn't speak English, but they graciously posed for pictures!

Note the Russian flag (left) and American flag (right).
I believe they raised the Stars and Stripes in honor of their host.

This sharpshooter had the longest line for pictures!
Behind them is a US Coast Guard ship.

Russian Naval Fortress Flag

A symbol of Russia ... and what I remember from the Cold War.

ADMIRAL PANTELEEV was docked in tandem to the Russian oil ship
FOTIY KRYLOV.  We waived to the sailor!

More Cyrillic characters!

It was close to lunch so I peaked in the window.
The officers eat well!

The stern doubled as a helicopter pad.
Here's a Russian pilot!

My kids jumped in the back!

What do you know about Russia?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.  This giveaway is open to all readers.  Comments are open through Saturday, July 14, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, July 15.
