Wednesday's Librarian Day sailed into the "Readers For Life" Literacy Autographing. From the RWA website at this link,
The "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing has become one of the most popular events at RWA's Annual Conference. Hundreds of romance authors participate in this autographing event, and each year we raise thousands of dollars, which are donated to ProLiteracy Worldwide and local literacy organizations. Since 1990, RWA has raised more than $766,000 to fight illiteracy.
Romance Writers of America is pleased to announce that the 2012 "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing raised $50,963 for ProLiteracy Worldwide, Read OC, and Literacy Volunteers - Huntington Valley. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event so successful!

One more recipient of this good will - the Orange County Public Libraries received the leftover books generously donated by the publishers!
I assisted Stephanie Sloane in securing authors' autographs for her conference bag ...

What would you wear to a literacy signing - pink hair, tartan sash, leopard print, or something else? One randomly selected commenter from this week's blog wins a book choice from my convention stash. Comments are open through Saturday, August 4, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, August 5.

Something comfortable..lol
ReplyDeleteFlat shoes, comfortable clothes and a cushion if I am going to be sitting for long periods of time!
ReplyDeleteI'd wear something comfortable!
ReplyDeleteGoth... Lol. But then I always wanted to goth out! Or I would wear a tartan or a druid's robe. So I'd be comfortable walking around. LOL

Oh, WOWOWOW! Seeing my picture included with all those famous folks is awesome. What would I wear? Comfortable shoes are a must!
ReplyDeleteOh wow... so envious that you met so many writers! :)
ReplyDeleteI think probably something comfy but pretty too. :)
My usual outfit every time I go out. Ballet flats, shorts and tees. Don't want to wear something that will make me uncomfortable. :D But I have to wear something yellow, it's my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteKim, I think that same boat has been anchored in Hickam Harbor since I was there! If I search my pics, can probably find one of it from 6 or 7 years ago. Too funny! Always wonderful to see you. One day, I'm coming back to Hawaii. Just don't know when!
ReplyDeleteI'd wear jeans and a shirt. And lots of purple. Thank you so much for sharing your pictures. Hugs from Texas.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely something comfortable. Your family wearing aloha wear look perfect.

I love all your pics Kim. The one of your boys with Olivia Gates is adorable. I would want to be comfortably dressed, so I would also wear capris, a nice top and some flat shoes. Thank you again for another great opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI, too, would wear something comfortable and sandals.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying all the great photos! :)
I love what Christina Dodd is wearing! And Sandy Blair looks so cute in her plaid!
ReplyDeleteI'd wear something layered and comfortable -- definitely flat shoes and have a shawl or cardigan.
I've been following the RWA through blogs and I really enjoyed your pictures!
Kim, thank you so much for taking the time to visit my table, for all of the goodies you left AND for the fabulous pictures! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support. And what a handsome pair of sons you have! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love all the wonderful pics! I love the idea of wearing something that goes along with a book such as the tartan and wig but I would definitely want something comfortable too.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures. Probably something comfortable.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see your boys in a photo. I'm so envious. Wish I were there to help out! Book hugs!
ReplyDeleteYay! It was SO AWESOME to see you, and thank you so much for the li hing mui gummies--my boys and I devoured them! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI think I would definitely go for comfort. Something like Khakis and a blouse, with either flats or sandals. I would also make sure to have a light sweater in case I got cool.
ReplyDeleteSOOOOOOO jealous, LOL. It looks like you had a great time and it is wonderful that so much was raised.
Cut cute pics , I wear nice dress
ReplyDeleteKimh
I would wear something that was comfortable and represented what I write.
ReplyDeleteWhat a couple gentlemen your boys are, standing there so nice.
ReplyDeleteI often wear a streak of bright pink in my hair, so I guess you could say I would dress normal. Pink hair, cute skirt or dress...and a really bug grin to be surrounded by so many authors! Thanks for sharing your pictures!!!
Something comfortable and most likely in blue, since I like blue. :) Though I do find myself liking Lynn Raye Harris' tiger print!
ReplyDeleteBeaver suit. Do I need to say I am SEP fan.
ReplyDeleteLike most, I'd go for something comfortable and my Crocs (the comfortable footwear!).
ReplyDeleteI really liked it when Donna MacMeans wore a corset once - and I love her feathers. I kind of like the tartan sashes too.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! If I had the chance to attend the signing, I would definitely wear something comfortable as I would plan to meet as many authors as I could!
