We have a winner from last week's posts - May! And I am a winner for scheduling my annual mammogram!
Jane was curious about the mammo machine. |
Watch out, Jane, you may get squished! |
Jane enjoyed the technician's Hawaiian souvenirs ... |
... including the pink animals! |
Can you offer one healthy tip for the summer?
I share one from a dermatologist at Tripler Army Medical Center - apply sunscreen 30 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every hour to keep your skin protected.
One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash. This giveaway is open to all readers. Comments are open through Saturday, June 16, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, June 17.
Mahalo,

Even the Navy clinic has an anchor! |
Drink plenty of water, especially if out in the sun. If you wait until you feel thirsty, you are already slightly dehydrated by that point. (and I call the mammo-x-ray machine a breast panini maker!).
ReplyDeleteWell Done you Kim & Jane.
ReplyDeleteAs You Know Kim I am a Firm believer of Checking your (.)(.)'s I am gratful to the receptionist at my old Doctors Office who Said you should think about getting a Mamo.... So in SHORT Ladies Lasses Friends Acquaintances Check Your (.)(.)'s it could save you life.

Oh congrats for the appt! :)
ReplyDeleteOne summer tip: drink lots of water! And when picking sunscreen, try to pick something that is UVA and UVB...
I once followed this advice and broke out everywhere I put on sunscreen. They are still searching for one I can use. I avoid the sun. I have to make my appointment. Bummer
ReplyDeleteCongrats, May.
ReplyDeleteI am going to also say drink more water. I got dehydrated once and it put me in the hospital.
I am going to go with always check for ticks! Where I live they are very bad already this year, and my cat likes to wonder through wooded areas and tends to bring them back into the yard with him, yuck!
ReplyDeleteAlways wear sunscreen, put on a hat or cap when out in the sun and drink plenty of water.
ReplyDeleteA friend of my is in the hospital right now because he got dehydrated. So yes, definitely drink lots of water. Congrats on getting the mammo done! I'm glad Jane didn't get squished.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim and Crew,
ReplyDeleteYes! Drink water! My sister got dehydrated and passed out while riding her bike at college. Coulda been horrible if she fell into traffic. Luckily there were people around who called and ambulance and helped her.
Boob Panini!!! Hilarious!
My best advice is to take five minutes a day just to breathe, relax, smile and think about one really positive thing in your life and one dream you'd like to realize.
Have a great day everyone!
Shannon
(No contest, I've already won 2x this year :-)
I feel you should drink plenty of water and also make sure your pets have fresh, cold water to drink!
ReplyDeleteWear a hat.
ReplyDeleteAlso must reiterate "mammogram!" After 30 years of normal, false, and inconclusive, with biopsies etc., turned out to be the real thing. Scared my younger coworkers into scheduling their long overdue tests. And, yes, I am keeping my appointment for a mammo next month for the other breast.
May I share that, when I had my tonsils out at age 5, my nurse/mom found a doll for me who was dressed in full nurse regalia and who "went under" the ether in the OR before that mask ever came near me. I am ashamed to recall that I shared not one iota of the ice cream post surgery.
To wear sunscreen
ReplyDeleteGet enough sleep each night. You don't realize how bad not getting enough sleep makes you feel until you are trying to get through the day and feeling like you are going to fall asleep at your desk.
ReplyDeleteI'll repeat, stay Hydrated. My late Dad got dehydrated and spent some time in the hospital. And don't forget the sun screen.
