The things I want to know are in books; my best friend is the man who'll get me a book I ain't read. - Abraham Lincoln
I signed up to distribute books for World Book Night (at this link). I received twenty copies of BECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE. Where is the best place to distribute books in Hawaii?
The beach!
What book would you recommend to promote literacy? One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash. This giveaway is open to all readers. Comments are open through Saturday, April 28, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, April 29.

I think I would pick anything from Edgar Allan Poe.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to stick with my standard book recommendation: I think everyone should read Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.
ReplyDeleteI think you need to tailor the book to things that interests the individual and the age level. Look at something that people are talking about, i.e., Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Twilight. Of course, I happen to like Green Eggs and Ham, too! ;o)
ReplyDeleteI am not going to pick a specific book but I will say that I leared that younger children love predictable, patterned and alphabet books so I will have to say I would promote those.
ReplyDeleteWhy not start off with a simple book like Dick and Jane and go from there. Easy peasy, lets get the kids reading and promote libraries, when I was a kid it was my favourite place to go to.
ReplyDeleteI would choose one of my favorite books from childhood, Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are."
ReplyDeleteOf course it's impossible to pick one book but if I were to chose one of my favorites it is Clan of the Cavebear by Jean Auel. I'm just reading the last of the Earth's Children series and am sorry it's almost over.
ReplyDeleteI was able to participate in the World Book Giveaway. I got to give books away for this. I gave away The Hungar Games. I gave to some college students, some co-workers, and then just some people I saw around town. It was very fun and was cool to make someones day by giving them a good book. There were many great choices of books, like Because of Winn-Dixie and The Book Thief.
ReplyDeleteI think the Harry Potter books would be great!
ReplyDeleteCool love it, great pics,
ReplyDeleteJudy Blume books
Kimh
I'd choose a Harry Potter book.
ReplyDeleteIt would be my favorite book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity.

That is such a great idea to pass out books on the beach. For kids, I'd maybe pass out Nancy Drew Books or Hardy Boys Books. I know they might be kind of dated now, but I know I sure loved them.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend Little Women or Treasure Island.
ReplyDeleteThats a hard question. I didnt really like any of the books i hard to read for school. I think, for me, being told what book to read, took the pleasure out of it. I did have one teacher for a class in high school that read a book to us, i cant remember whats its called, but i remember it being very good. I told my sister about it later so she could read it. :)
