Breaking News - H50 and NCIS in my backyard!

Extra large pictures are in order for today's breaking news!   This morning my family volunteered with an Eagle Scout project in Kaneohe.  When we left this morning, the C17 was parked at an angle on the flightline near our house.   This afternoon, we came home to the casts of H50  and NCIS: LA!

The white car (in the first picture) broke down outside the gate, giving me cover to approach the filming area.  The military person on the right is Security Forces, looking away from me.   Notice the actor in the maroon shirt on the left ... it is Sam (LL Cool J)!   Just behind Security Forces is Kensi and Danno walking towards the aircraft's ramp.

Deeks is in the white shirt, catching up with Kensi!

They board the aircraft ...

... while I check out the technical crew. I live across the street to the left.

Exiting the aircraft is Callen, Sam, and Danno.

Notice the H50 Camero that often hosts the "carguments" between Danno and Steve.

Caught!  Security Forces ask me to relocate across the street!

What an afternoon!   Have you met a celebrity or stumbled upon a film set?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.  This giveaway is open to a all readers.  Comments are open through Saturday, March 31.   I'll post the winner on Sunday, April 1.

  5. That's so cool! I bet you were all excited to get pictures of that.
The only celebrity I've ever seen was Ice-T and his wife coming out of the Mirage Hotel when I was going in. We passed each other and he smiled at me. lol

  6. That'a so cool!
When I was a kid & my dad was stationed at K-Bay, we used to drive past the house that they used as "the Robin Masters estate" on Magnum PI. If there was a cop car blocking the driveway, you knew they were filming.

When I was about 12, I snuck onto the set of The Prince of Tides that was being shot in the Naval Hospital in Beaufort (SC). It doubled for the hospital that Savannah was in in New York. I even got to meet & get my picture taken with Nick Nolte (pre-crazy mugshot, of course...lol)

  7. I came to downtown Cincinnati to Fountain Square and they were filming a Cincinnati Bell commercial with Nick Lachey. Nick and Drew Lachey went to the school of performing arts here where they grew up. Janette

  9. How exciting to see all of this, one of the advantages of being a military wife. I had the pleasure of seeing the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh land and greet people when we were stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. Sadly, she only greeted the dignataries and ignored all of us minions who were holding the Union Jack Flag.

I've also met Englebert Humperdink (not sure of his surname spelling) years ago when he played at the USAF base in England. He was very nice and so cute. He also gave me a kiss. *sigh*

  10. How fun! I can't think of any celebrity I've met, though I have met some authors that I've been excited to meet! They filmed the movie "Traffic" here at our courthouse downtown. It's funny because the trial in the movie was a criminal trial. Our criminal courthouse is old and ugly. But, our civil courthouse right next door to the criminal building was new at the time of the filming. So, they used it for filming, even though we all here in San Diego new it wasn't accurate. My husband worked in the building at the time and got to see some of the filming.

  11. Well -- your weather was sure better! I went to Montreal to watch the filming of the last Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman TV movie. The morning after we arrived, I looked out my hotel window and couldn't SEE the bright very tall red neon sign across the street -- White out. We ended up in snow conditions above our knees. Luckily, Montreal has a lot of "underground" city and mass transit so we could travel from filming spot to filming spot fairly easily.

Joe Lando invited our group (2 at a time) into filming at a "Gentleman's Club" and during the time we were there, came over frequently to talk to us.

  12. Mahalo Kim,
I loved your pictures, especially of Sam (L L Cool J). so glad you got a chance to see them. I met Roger Mosley (TC of Magnum PI fame) and Tom Selleck (Magnum) in Hawaii way back in the 70's.
I went to Hawaii with 2 of my girlfriends a long time ago when Magnum PI was still being filmed. We got to visit the set and hang out with Roger Mosley (TC in Magnum). He was a friend of one of my 2 girlfriends and she called him to let him know we were there. He invited us to the set and we got to see them film a scene at the house where Magnum lived. It was a beautiful property and the filming was in the garden area. We also got to meet Tom Selleck and have lunch with the crew. It was interesting. It took them about 3 hours to film a 2 minute scene and we couldn't walk around too much because of it. It was nice meeting Tom Selleck. He was so nice and down to earth. He was really kind of geeky in a cute way. Later that same evening, Roger (TC) took us to a really fun night club done up in the Marrakesh style. It looked like he had a harem with us 3 girls sitting with him. We teased him about it all night. That was a really fun trip and we had a blast.

  13. When I was in NYC for a few days 2 yrs. ago we ran into a film crew in Brooklyn. A Jason Stratham movie was being filmed. We stuck around for about an hour or so but it was inside a warehouse and I only got to see him for seconds. We did talk with some of the crew and the antagonist of the film. They said it was called "Safe" but I've not seen it come out. Maybe they changed the name because he's been in a few movies since.

  23. OH! My God! You are so fortunate to be at the right place and time to see all of them. My husband knows that I practically drool over Alex MacLaughlin. Loved seeing some of the NCIS characters au natural! I still miss Moonlight. The show was cancelled after only one season! Not fair!
