Aloha to Fort Lauderdale - Cruising the Beach

We ventured north of Miami to For Lauderdale to check out its world famous beach.

While my son and his friend enjoyed the beach, I rode around in air conditioned Sun Trolley

Once it cooled off in the late afternoon, I walked around the beach.  Above is an optical illusion - there is significant distance between the cargo ship and sail boat.

Another illusion of sorts - an oversized beach chair.

The city turns off the street lights to ensure the hatched turtles follow the moonlight into the ocean.

I considered renting a bike ...

... love the inspiration!

Inspiration for a romance novel?

The seagull looked at me ....

... before flying away.  Have you visited Fort Lauderdale?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blog posts wins a book choice from my convention stash. Comments are open through Saturday, June 4, 10 pm in Baltimore. I'll post the winner on Sunday, June 5.

  3. Haven't visited yet - but I'd like to - probably in the winter when it is not so hot there, and it is cold at home.

  4. I was there about 25 years ago with friends. There was a bar at the hotel which had a window to the underwater part of the pool. I am sure they don't have that any more!

  5. I have but it's been a very long time. My mother-in-law lived in FL for a while and we had some wonderful vacations.
