Scenes from the North Shore - Hale'iwa Ali'i Beach Park

We are approaching our last month of surfing season ...

... and the waves still entertain!   The surfer stretches ...

... and jumps right in!

I enjoy the colorful boards and apparel ...

... but its the surf that mesmerizes me!

The keiki (children) catch fish with nets ...

... and poles!

The keiki even snorkel!   One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash.  This giveaway is open to all readers.  Comments are open through Saturday, April 13, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, April 14, on The Reading Reviewer.

  3. Gorgeous pics. I do think it would be wonderful to live near an ocean - I love the sound of the surf.

  6. Always enjoy the pictures. I'd love to live on/near the beach, but not interested in surfing or snorkeling. Would love to just be able to look at it and walk the beach.

  9. Hi Kim -

I always love your pictures but must admit I'm fascinated by the last one! Because of the balance it looks like for it to be there it had to have a big crane put the top piece on the bottom! Don't you just love to see the surprises that nature give us!

In the Northeast if you the surfers what their season is they'll tell you whenever the waves are coming in! I'm always amazed when it's freezing outside (at least as far as I'm concerned) and they suit up and jump into the waves! As long as the waves are rolling in they'll be surfers trying to find the "perfect wave" and "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these" surfers from the waves!
