If you are a regular follower, you know Bellows Beach as a military resort. But it played a role on December 7, 1941, as the Japanese bombed the airfield enroute to Pearl Harbor.
Today, Bellows AFS serves as a training facility and military resort. The runway was replaced by the golf range. Last year, the staff found unexploded ordnance; the range has been closed since then.
I stayed in a cabin while the scouts camped in tents!
I was fortunate to have a kai (ocean) view.
Imagine this tranquility at 8 am in the morning being disrupted by a surprise attack.

ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to experience all these beautiful views. I'm with Desere, I would stay in a cabin too. I'm not one to sleep in a tent, with God only knows what crawling around. A cabin is also "pushing it" with me. I like my home comforts too much.

We used to go camping in an old used tent trailer and that's the closest I ever want to get to a tent - give me the cabin!
My younger son, on the other hand, takes his wife and my grandchildren camping in a tent and then they climb the mountain rails with the youngest in a back pack!
At least I used o have a stove in the tent-trailer powered by propane - they cook over a camp fire - not exactly my idea of relaxing.
No mater how you go camping it's still afun time with the family -with no electronic distractions! (We used to go campint pre-cell phones so no phone calls as well!
Probably the cabin, I'm not a real tent type person. lol
