Countdown to Pearl Harbor Day - Bellows Field

If you are a regular follower, you know Bellows Beach as a military resort.  But it played a role on December 7, 1941, as the Japanese bombed the airfield enroute to Pearl Harbor.

Today, Bellows AFS serves as a training facility and military resort.   The runway was replaced by the golf range.  Last year, the staff found unexploded ordnance; the range has been closed since then.

I stayed in a cabin while the scouts camped in tents!

I was fortunate to have a kai (ocean) view.

Imagine this tranquility at 8 am in the morning being disrupted by a surprise attack.

But peace has returned to Bellows.   Would you stay in the tent or the cabin?  One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice form my convention stash. This giveaway is open to all readers. Comments are open through Saturday, December 8, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, December 9, on SOS Aloha.
