We drove along the south shore, calling upon Po'ipu ... |
... home of Sprouting Horn blow hole! |
From Go Hawaii at this link,
Ancient Hawaiians believed this coastline was once guarded by a giant moo (lizard) named Kaikapu. Everyone was afraid of the moo because it would eat anyone who tried to fish or swim in the area.
One day, a young boy named Liko entered the ocean to outwit the lizard. Kaikapu attacked him, but Liko thrust a sharp stick into her mouth, swam under the lava shelf, and escaped through a small hole to the surface.
The moo followed Liko and got stuck in the lava tube. To this day, you can hear the lizard’s roar and see her breath spraying from the blowhole.
We continued along the coast to the Hanapepe Valley Overlook. |
Hanapepe is famous for its swing bridge. |
It truly swings! |

book depository because free shipping cost :)
ReplyDeleteBookdepository, because it is the only source for me to get books. Had huge trouble with Amazon Germany in the past and I will NEVER order there again.

Book depository is great because of no fee shipping cost. I also like old used bookstores... Lots of great books..
ReplyDeleteI like the Strand. They have tons of books.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite online bookstore would be The Book Depository because their prices are better and there's free shipping (though it takes wayy longer than I would like for the books to get mailed to me from the UK).
ReplyDeleteI like to go to the Half Price Bookstore in our area. I get such great bargains! They even have several shelves of great books that you can get for $1 or $2 because they have too many of them.
ReplyDeleteLately it's been Amazon for me but we have a nice Barnes and Nobel when I want to browse.
ReplyDeleteI have two favorite used bookstores -- Bundles of Books and Gifts in Glen Ellyn,IL and Half Price Books.
ReplyDeleteSo many people have mentioned the Book Depository...I'm going to check it out. I like the bookstore that is attached to the local library. Lots of fun finds in it.

I use the book store that gives me the best price, whether it's B&N, Amazon, The Book Depository, or Half Price Books. The Book Depository does have great prices, but it does take forever to get them - never received a pre-ordered book until two weeks after the release date (and an email).
ReplyDeleteOops! Meant to say that I love the pictures~~
