Queen Lili'uokalani, Hawaii's last monarch, often visited her garden along the Nu'uana Stream. She bequeathed it to the city for the public's enjoyment.
The garden is home of the Waikahulu Waterfall.
The developing garden includes native Hawaiian plants ...
... including the Ma'o, "Hawaiian cotton", a member of the hibiscus family. Do you have a favorite garden? One randomly selected commenter wins a book choice from my convention stash. This giveaway is open to all readers. Comments are open through Saturday, May 11, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, May 12.

I love the names and the garden is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI always love looking at the pictures you post. I don't have a favorite garden here, but in England, I used to love going to Stratford upon Avon, and looking at Anne Hathaway's garden. It was so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese garden in Vancouver.... It was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWish I could say my own but (sigh). There a number of historic sites with lovely gardens around here.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite garden. Usually too bothered by allergies to really enjoy them. Looking at pictures is good though!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous pictures! I love all gardens. We have a Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh that has gorgeous gardens.
ReplyDeleteI was delighted to visit some of your beautiful gardens in Hawaii although I haven't been back to Oahu since I was a child. We also have beautiful gardens here in Southern California including the one at the Huntington Library and at Descanso Gardens. Thanks for sharing some of the beauty with us! I am also delighted by my own garden which (briefly) had blooming iris...one of which is the Mahalo variety!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the NY Botanical Garden. Love looking at the cherry blossoms.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a favorite garden, but I do love going on garden tours. My mom and I are going on one this mother's day at 6 homes. Really looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun post! Umm... not a favorite garden but I do enjoy seeing them :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures. Looking at that road, is a reminder of how much Hawaii has changed since I was last there in the '70's. Tweeted.
