Aloha! We have been busy in Hawaii ...
My son completed his Eagle Scout project - the Hickam Heritage Trail. I posted pictures here, here, and here. He presented the project to the Hickam Library - the starting and ending point for the trail.
April 23 was World Book Night at this link. I was honored as a "giver" ... and I gave away copies of James Patterson's MIDDLE SCHOOL: THE WORST YEARS OF MY LIFE to Boy Scouts from military families. Many scouts have deployed parents ... reading provides them comfort and humor during the family separation.
April 27 was Mahakiki - the Aloha Council's Scouting Exhibition. The piper led the units to the flag ceremony. Check out more pictures from Makahiki at this link.
What's been happening in your corner of the world? One randomly selected commenter from this week's blogs wins a book choice from my convention stash. This giveaway is open to all readers. Comments are open through Saturday, May 4, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, May 5, at The Reading Reviewer (link).
Mahalo,
Kim in Hawaii
I would love to give books away. I am going to check into it next year.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son on his Eagle Scout project. I hope we can follow his trail when we visit someday!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun post and congrats to your son!!! I need to mark World Book night on my calender for next year! Sounds like a lot of fun :)
ReplyDeleteNothing going on here... either than weirdly fluctuating weather... 80's one day... 40 the next and after having an 80's weekend, they are now saying we will still get some snow this week!! Bleh...
Congrats to your son for completing his Eagle Scout project. That's a great accomplishment. Nothing too major going on with us in our world lately. We had a nice weekend. My high school had a 50 year celebration/open house on Sat. It was fun to walk around the campus and see all the changes that have been made since I was there as a student.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your son Kim for completing his Eagle Scout project. I know that you must be very proud of him.
ReplyDeleteLast week, we went up to Tampa to watch our Granddaughter Courtney, be inaugurated into the National Honor Society. That was definitely the highlight of my week.
Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWe went to Disney last week... Lined up for hours to see the princesses to make my daughter happy... It was worth it to see her so happy!
Congratulations to your son for completing his Eagle Scout project - well done! As others have indicated, I need to mark the World Book night on my calendar so I can be involved. I would imagine it is fun and satisfying. Hubby has decided to open a retail store selling emergency and disaster supplies, opening 5/1. Wish us luck, please!!
ReplyDeleteYou must be so proud of your son!! It's a big birthday time for us - our uncle turned 80 and both my daughters have birthdays. And Spring has finally sprung!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Nothing much
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son, Kim. Nothing exciting is happening here.
